ONLY ONE RIGHT OUT OF THREE!!

==================================

That's right! Only three provinces joined together to form Canada. They were Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the pre-Confederation Province of Canada.

At the moment of Confederation (July 1, 1867) the pre-Confederation Province of Canada was divided into the Provinces of Ontario and Québec.

Only three provinces joined together to form Canada, but there are four original provinces of Canada.

(Newfoundland was the last province to join Canada.)

=====================

Canada was the first country to be created by legislation.

The British North America Act (now the Constitution Act) came into effect on July 1, 1867. Section 3 of the Act created Canada by joining Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the pre-Confederation Province of Canada into the new country. Section 6 of the Act then severed the Province of Canada into the Provinces of Québec and Ontario. Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Québec and Ontario are the original provinces of Confederation.

Three new provinces were subsequently created (Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan) and three colonies joined (British Columbia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland). Newfoundland was the last to join Canada.

(Newfoundland was renamed Newfoundland and Labrador on December 6, 2001.)

Climate regions? Political regions? Climate regions include many more than four, so many I don't think that is what you are looking for.

Political regions? Again more than four but some can put Canada into four regions. One region would be Western Canada which would include Western provinces, BC, AB, and SK and the central province of MB.

The Eastern provinces of Ontario and Quebec are often, incorrectly geographically and increasingly population wise, called Central Canada.

The remaining provinces of NL, NB, PEI, and NS would then be called Maritime provinces.

Of course BC and MB, western and central provinces are also Maritime provinces but like referring to Quebec as Central Canada those geographical errors are understood or questioned by Canadians.

And where does the vast Northern Area fit in? It doesn't. Those are political regions referring to Canadian politics and in Canada the north, still being colonies of Canada have almost no political power. No need for them to be considered a region.
