What Cherry means is, greasers aren't the only ones with problems. The Socs have it rough too. But because they have more than they want, they're literally too cool to care about anything.

∙ 13y agoIn The Outsiders Cherry Valance tells Ponyboy that things are rough all over. What she meant was that they have problems too. People on the East side think that the Socials have a perfect life. But the truth is that they have problems with families, with friends, and peer pressure. If they hang out with the wrong people they will be looked down upon. She says later in the book that she'll be talking to a friend and not mean what she says. And also that she can't be herself, and Ponyboy is the first person she's gotten through to.

How is Ponyboy different from Dally?
Johnny and ponyboy differ from dally because johnny and ponyboy aren't "tuff" like dally is. Dally has a mean and rough look to him unlike pony and johnny, and dally's eyes show that he has seeen things no other person has.
Why does ponyboy come to believe that Greasers and socs are really very much the same?
Ponyboy believes that other Greasers will end up like Dally because of how they look at life, and how they take it: violent and desperate. Ponyboy also believes this because of Johnny’s death and Dally’s death, they might start hating themselves and blaming themselves for their deaths.
