In the book "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne, Bruno and Gretel initially learn about Jews through the limited and distorted perspective of their upbringing, which is shaped by Nazi Propaganda. They are taught to view Jews as lesser beings and enemies, reflecting the prejudices of their society. However, as Bruno forms a friendship with Shmuel, a Jewish boy on the other side of the fence, they begin to understand the humanity and individuality of Jewish people, challenging the misconceptions instilled in them. This friendship ultimately highlights the tragic consequences of hatred and ignorance.
its mostly because of her listz, in the book after he came to tutor bruno and gretel , gretel changed.Lieutenant Kotler might have had an impact on gretel as well, maybe she wanted to impress him
Bruno Gretel Schmuel his mom dad Herr Liszt
Bruno has a better relationship with his mother then his father, Bruno is clearly fairly close as he asks most of his questions to his mother. His father is working at the camp so his mother is one only people he can talk to.
Bruno is naive. He doesn't exactly know what's going on around him. In the movie after Bruno sees the propaganda film, he is thinking about joining the Nazis side. But with his teacher and Gretel telling him one thing, and Pavel and Shmuel acting totally different. Both Shmuel and Pavel are nice, and nothing like what everyone is telling him Jews are like. Towards the end, he questions his fathers morales. Jews obviously aren't as bad as everyone says.
The Father is Bruno's dad, Gretel's dad, Bruno and Gretel's mothers husband, a soldier and a boss to Maria (the family's maid), cook (the family's cook) and the other two maids who are not really mentioned in the film or book.

I guess that you refer to the film/book "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" ? In that case; In the beginning Bruno thought it was 'a farm'. Later on they explain to him that it is a place for 'all the evils in the world'. Bruno actually never knew that it was a concentration camp, and had no idea what was going on behind the fences... Gretel (Bruno's older sister), on the other hand, did know that it was a concentration camp. 'Brainwashed' by the private tutor and propaganda, she was not against the idea of putting Jews e.o in those camps. Though just like most Germans she did not know about the horrifying situations in the concentration camps.
