The Children's Crusade was important to the civil rights movement of 1963 because the children realized blacks should have the same rights as whites. When Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. asked who would join him in standing up anddemonstratingwith him on the streets everyone but the children remained seated. The day of the march 1,000 children showed all being brutalized and arrested but that didn't stop them. The next day even more showed up after hearing of what happened the day before. The same thing happened for 3 whole days. News was spread all over the world of the abuse, brutality, anddiscriminationbeing shown towards children. People were not amused. This act lead to the arrest of the Sheriff and helped bring down the violence towards blacks. In the related links box below, I posted theinformation.

∙ 12y agofive thousand children were arrested in the march of 1963. The children were smart and they thought if they filled up jail the president would care. After a while he did and presedent Kennade passed the law and everywhere the country blacks were FREE!
