It's pretty sweet. Generally speaking, Canadians are super friendly and easygoing. Vancouver, B.C. is kind of a bigger city, but there are a LOT of things to do if you're a tourist that don't make you feel like the classic "tourist", if that makes any sense at all. I would recommend going for an anniversary or some other kind of special occasion, but make sure you get a nice list of attractions and have a general plot-out of your day to make the most of your trip.
While beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, yes, most people would consider Vancouver Canada a beautiful city. It is located at the foot of mountains to the north and east and the Pacific Ocean (well, at least the space between Vancouver Island and the mainland) to the west. There are many examples of early 20th century architecture present in the downtown. Lots of waterfront. Some great looking bridges, such as the Lions Gate Bridge. Stanley Park downtown is one of the largest urban parks in the world. Like most Canadian cities it is very clean and orderly.
Just don't confuse Vancouver Canada with Vancouver Washington, which is a predominantly working class industrial city in the Portland metropolitan area. I have heard Portlanders refer to Vancouver WA as an "armpit".
There are many things to do - it depends mostly on your interests. Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, and Science World are popular tourist spots. Nearby hiking and skiing is also a big hit.
