If you have seen the movie, you would understand that the person depicted as the 'crorepati" or millionaire, is a poor guy from the slums. But he has is not considered to have any chance or know the answers because his education is less. So he is actually considered an "underdog", just like in sports, sometimes ,eg. Indian cricket team in 1983 were considered underdogs going into the world cup 1983 final. But they still won against odds and made history. I dont think the term is offensive, it is a made up term. These people are suing now because they can make money off of the success and hardwork of others. Cheap lawyers.
