If the domestic partner is not the mother or father of the children, then they really wouldn't have rights to the children. It would be similar if a room mate lived in the same house as the kids. The fact that the partner has a sexual relationship with the child's parent is irrelevant.
In short, if the relationship ends, don't count on getting any custody or visitation rights whatsoever.
