I assume you're referring to Ghengis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford. He was my adviser in College and discussed this book at length in his classes. Basically, he never intended to write a book about the weighty history of the Mongols. However, as he researched more and more about modern day Mongolia, he was heavily encouraged by his translators and other friends to write about Ghengis Khan. For example, they would repeatedly guide him to stories of Ghengis Khan and ask him what else he needed to know to write the history of this man and his empire (even though Weatherford had no intention of writing about Khan). This book was intended, in part, as a gift to Weatherford's friends, and to the Mongolian people as a whole. This is the first book about Ghengis Khan to be published in Mongolian before it was published in English.
So, in answer to your question:
The author intended to provide a document for modern day Mongolians about which they could feel pride and connection to their great history. He also intended to honor and thank his Mongolian friends by writing what they (not he) wanted written.

Pictographs and drawings eventually developed into modern letters.
Victorian literature was written in England during the "Victorian era" which was from 1832-1901. Victorian literature mostly focused on the strict social, political, and sexual conservatism of the time. Some famous Victorian authors are Edith Wharton, Kate Chopin, Charles Dickens, and William Thackeray. Modern age literature (modernism) was during the 1890's through the 1940's. The literature focused on moving towards modern Western ideas, religion, social conventions, and morality. Some famous modern age authors are William Faulkner, Scott Fizgerald, and Joseph Conrad.
Unlike modern fantasy authors, Tolkien did not describe this sort of thing. The elves "prized beautiful hair," but I believe that only refers to one kind. I think the reigning belief in the Tolkien fan community seems to be that the males, anyway, did not have hair on their chests.
AnswerEdgar Allan poe was the master of the suspense tale. He is one of the best known and most underappreciated American authors. Without Poe you would have no Stephen King, Dean Koontz, etc. The reason is that Poe went through many problems in his life, and that helped to make him the master of the macabre.
Everyone attacked Genghis Khan, not Genghis Khan attacked everyone. Read Genghis Khan by John Man, Genghis Khan and the making of the modern world by Jack Weatherford, The Leadership Secrets of Genghis Khan by John Man.

Copy is a derivative of the Latin "ad copius" meaning "to provide" which in turn can be traced back to the Greek "ad copium" meaning "to nourish" or "to give." In a modern context it was adopted by the advertising industry as a means to describe the process of writing text with the intent of "providing" the consumer a particular service or product.

Memoirs have been written throughout history, but the modern form of memoir writing began to gain popularity in the 18th century with the publication of authors like Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Benjamin Franklin. The genre continued to evolve in the 20th century with famous memoirists such as Anne Frank, Maya Angelou, and Frank McCourt.
