civil wars in which South Africa and other countries became involved
The Union of South Africa was created in 1910, following the Boer wars. Prior to this there were 4 independent colonies or countries making up the geographical area, These were Natal colony and Cape Colony ruled by the British and the independent Boer Republics of Transvaal and Orange Free State.
One of the effects of the Great Trek was that conflict and wars soon began to break out.
Yes: The anglo-boer war, basically a war for independence from Britain. South African troops also served as an Ally in the 1st (1914-1918) and 2nd (1939-1945) World Wars. During the 1970's and 1980's South Africa also conducted "war" in South West Africa/ Namibia and in Angola - predominantly against communist backed SWAPO and ANC training camps located in these two neighbouring countries (although South Africa for all intense and purpose occupied SWA/ Namibia for this period).

The Boer Wars and the Anglo Zulu Wars.
South Africa has fought in 6 wars the past 100 years and has won all of them. Currently South Africa has no reason to go to war.
South Africa was only formed in 1910 and there was never a war between South Africa and Britain, however the British fought wars with the Boers for control of gold and diamond and Zulus for control of Natal before South Africa was formed.
The British and the Dutch both colonised and the Zulu wars and two Boer wars happened.

civil wars in which South Africa and other countries became involved

The Boer Wars .
Cold Wars was created on 2009-02-23.
The Zulu war was caused by the British who started a new poll-tax in South Africa. Then the Zulus in South Africa killed two British Officers and in retaliation the British proposed a war against the Zulus. Who pooped.
You probably mean "cold war" related wars. The way you've worded this question it could mean "any war", in which case there were probably hundreds of little wars fought on earth from 1945 to 1990. To include: 1. Wars in Africa against White rule (wars against Apartheid). 2. Wars in the Middle East (Southwest Asia) between the Israelis and Arabs. 3. Wars of power struggles else where on the globe; to include insurgencies. There were some communist related cold war battles fought in Greece, Turkey, Central and South America, etc. But the only "big" battles were the two wars fought in Korea and Vietnam that directly related to communism vs the free world.
