This creature was the original, scrapped Predator design. It was intended for Jean Claud Van Damme who was also scrapped. The creatures appearance in the film was intended to be a tribute to the films heritage. You can Google "Original Predator design" and see the bug-like costume yourself. It was touched up and changed a bit for the latest film since the original was still too silly to ever appear in any film. Good thing Stan Winston and James Cameron had that fateful flight together which produced our favorite film character eh?
