She is borderline psychotic (progressing steadily into full-on psychosis as the novel/movie progresses). Even just 1/4 of the way through, the writer character (Paul Sheldon) has already voiced his concern (to the reader, of course) that Annie Wilkes is borderline psychotic:

"Because of his researches for Misery, he had rather more than a layman's understanding of neurosis and psychosis, and he knew that although a borderline psychotic might have alternating periods of deep depression and almost aggressive cheerfulness and hilarity, the puffed and infected ego underlay all, positive that all eyes were upon him or her, positive that he or she was starring in a great drama; the outcome was a thing for which untold millions waited with held breath.

Such an ego simply forbade certain lines of thought. These lines were predictable because they all stretched in the same direction: from the unstable person to objects, situations, or other persons outside of the subject's field of control (or fantasy: to the neurotic there might be some difference but to the psychotic they were one and the same).

Annie Wilkes had wanted Fast Cars destroyed, and so, to her, there had only been the one copy," (Viking Penguin hardcover edition, p50).

What was the name of Annie's pig in the movie Misery?

misery.

What movie has the line 'He didn't get out of the cockadoodie car'?

Stephen King's Misery. I can't remember if that line of dialogue is in the movie, but it's definitely in the book. It's when Paul Sheldon and Annie Wilkes are discussing the idea of deus ex machina (although they never use that term).Annie complains about the way Paul "cheated" her favorite character, Misery, back to life. She says that it's like the chapter plays she saw at the movies when she was a kid. In one episode, the hero is trapped in a burning car that's gone off a cliff, and in the next episode, they reveal that he had already escaped from the car before it went off the cliff. She is very angry that the writers "cheated" the hero out of the situation, because in the former episode, "he didn't get out of the cockadoodie car!"

How does misery end?

Paul kills Annie by ramming a statue of her pet pig into her face.Eighteen months later,Paul, suffering nightmares about Annie,is at a restuarant having lunch with his agent and sees Annie as a waitress, however,it is some one else.

Is Misery by Stephen King scary?

haha heck no its not scary at all its about this women kidnaps this famous writer when he got in a car wreck and she is obsessed with him and wont let him go she breaks his legs and everything i think that's the least scary movie that Stephen kings wrote it don't have no monsters scary faces or nothin like that it don't even show blood but u should watch it its a good movieAnswerI think Misery is perhaps the scariest Stephen King novel. Last time I read this novel, my hands were shaking with fear during many of the chapters. It's SO suspenseful. The Annie Wilkes character (played by Kathy Bates in the movie) is so terrifying. The movie is also brilliant, although I think the book is scarier. The book is a lot gorier than the movie, too. In the movie, she only clubs his foot until she breaks all the bones, while in the book, she actually CHOPS HIS FOOT OFF WITH A FREAKING AXE!I'm sorry, but if you don't think that's scary, then there's something wrong with you.
