In Spain, by the mid 1800s, their fashion was similar to European fashions. In both Mexico and Spain, they wore dresses that covered the neck and arms, and often wore long dresses. Of course, many didn't wear corsets or hoops until the influence of English culture. In New Mexico, however, many still dressed in their own traditional style separate from Mexico and Spain. Many blended their culture with Navajo and Pueblo Indians. They wore lose fitting blouses, that were short-sleeved during warmer months. They wore loose skirts, they were above the ankle. And they often wore moccasins or slippers. They wore gold earrings in their ears, and they wore their hair up if they were around 12 to 12 and older. They would often where gold or pearl necklaces. And they wore sashes around their waist, and they had sashes called rebozos that they wrapped around them.
