It has always been 17 years old in the UK- 16 year olds have never been allowed to drive cars.

However, up until 1972 they WERE allowed to ride motorcycles of any capacity on a provisional UK dirivng licence. If they passed their bike test during this time, they were also allowed to drive 3-wheeler cars, which even today can be driven on a full bike licence. Following a high number of fatal accidents from the late '50s onwards (when many kids were members of motorbike gangs), the law was changed restricting 16 year olds to scooters and mopeds of no more than 50cc.

There is currently debate in Parliament that will raise the age at which youngsters can take their driving tests to 18 years old, although they will still be able to drive on a provisional licence from 17.

What age should you drive at?

You can get provisional at 16, and you are aloud to drive when you are 17. it is better to get provisional when you are 16 because the law will change soon and you will not be able to get your provisional at 16 and start driving at the age of 17. Every U.S. State, every country, and probably every province has there own laws, so you'll have to check with them.

Should the driving age be raised from sixteen to eighteen?

No because at the age of 16 you are mature and tall enough and not much different from the age of 18 the difference's is that you are an adult but at 17 you are like an adult so 16 is not much different so no the driving age should and most likely would not be changed.
