The best places to buy rocks and minerals are rock shops. Unfortunately, not every community has them. Next would be a rock and mineral show, where dealers display and sell their inventories to the public. Do a Google search for rock and mineral shows in your state. Thirdly, good deals can be made on websites such as eBay, especially on specimens that are being bid on.

∙ 14y agoYou can buy minerals from online mineral dealers, or from rock shops, or from mineral shows, or from mineral collectors. Minerals are also sometimes sold at auction, or at museums and universities with active earth science departments.
A quick internet search will turn up any of the above in your area. Pretty much any city of decent size, say a couple hundred thousand people, will have places to buy minerals, though where minerals are abundant, and collecting is good or there's a rich history of mining, there will be more than in geologically barren areas.

If you use baby oil to tan or for "moisture" you are slathering yourself up with one big cancer-causing cocktail. Mineral oil is used in these products because it is cheap, it is readily available, and it is a great emulsifier. Mineral oil is a giant molecule that has lots of attachment sites for water to cling to. When this happens the molecule gets really fluffy and looks creamy like lotions. It is a great, cheap filler to cosmetic and personal care producers.
