The PS3 is a game console that goes in a room connected to a HDTV and has an internet connection so that it can browse the web download movies and play games. An iPad is a portable device that you carry around to use Most people would like to have both and not one or the other.

∙ 13y agoIt all depends on your needs. If you need (or want) to play a Flash video, then an iPad will not be your best choice, as Apple does not allow Flash to run on it.
You will have to determine which particular device and operating system will best fit your needs.
Apple has the most apps, but those apps are limited by the AppStore acceptance policy.
The Android tablets have fewer apps, but has many more free options, and is rapidly catching up
The Windows based tablets have the fewest apps, but have a better software compatability list (and a corresponding higher price)
