John Brown's Rebellion took place on October 16, 1859 at Harper's Ferry, Virginia. John Brown and 21 other abolitionists (16 white men, 4 free blacks, and 1 slave) took all armories from the militia, in hopes everyone else would join in too. After one day, Robert E Lee and his militia/army arrived and captured or killed all 21 men. John Brown was arrested and hanged soon after. This tragic event made the north and south drift further apart, and towards war.
