The silk road was a trade route used to trade expansive items (like silk). It was very useful to everyone in the Asian area. Because of the area it was placed navigators wanted to expand it to another region. That way they would be able to trade in more places; and make more money. They wanted to find a sea route to China & India because they knew both places were thriving, and that they would make good money off of them.
Some people didn't want to sell there property to the government. Therefore they couldn't finish the road.
