Why was Invader Zim canceled?

It's because Nickeloden thought it was to violent for kids and teaching kids to be evil.NOT because of "Bloody Gir".They found out about Bloody Gir AFTER it was canceled!Also it is still on Nick Toons at night.But there is never gonna be new episodes EVER!Its canceled that happens when things are canceled.DEAL WITH IT!

Nickelodeon didn't provide reasons as to why they cancelled Invader Zim. There are rumors circulating online but they are just that, rumors, however in April 2017 Nickelodeon announced an hour long TV movie was being made. As of October 2017, airdate is unknown.

Most likely though it was cancelled for the same reason all shows get cancelled that aren't ended by their creators or showrunners, the ratings simply weren't high enough to justify the cost of making new episodes.

Invader Zim was cancelled due to poor ratings with Spongebob easily surpassing it as the top Nickelodeon TV series, as well as its release being in March 2001, less than 6 months later 9/11 happened, and so the creators believed that due to the pressure and sensitivity going on, hearing about a little green alien conquering the earth was last thing someone would want to hear, and thus, it was cancelled with only a mere 27 episodes rerunning until 2005, the creator himself states that the show would have ran for far longer than it did otherwise.

In 2019, to put the abrupt absence to an end nearly 17 years later, a movie was released.
