Internally two crystal oscillator cycles are used as one single cycle. During one single crystal cycle it is made to logic high and logic low in next cycle so, that 50% duty cycle is maintained.

∙ 12y agoThe crystal oscillator in the Intel 8085 is expected to be exactly twice the frequency of the desired clock frequency, so if you wanted a clock of 3.14 MHz, you would need a crystal of 6.28 MHz.
However, the basic 8085 is only capable of a clock of 3.125 MHz, so 3.14 MHz is too fast. You will need to use the -1, or the -2 version of the chip in this configuration.
