The switch could be bad. There could be a loose connection on the fuse box, or on the rear of the instrument cluster.
Check the park lamp fuse.
Check all fuses- many unrelated problemsCheck wiring to fuse boxCheck for loose ground Stop lights and shift interlock should be common circuitDash lights parking/tailights should be common circuit
check the dimmer switch, turn the light know left and right. sounds like that is the problem. turn it with the lights ON!! Check fuse panel in passenger foot well, two columns of small fuses. Check fuses #6 and #9. They are 6 and 9 down from the top in the left hand column. Try hitting the dashboard over the cluster with your hand. It's a common problem that the air bag light comes on and all gages drop. I get that now and then. Give the dash a hit and it comes back to life.
Change your break light fuse, it is tied to your dashboard lights. Happened to me twice already. The fuse is a number 15 (blue) of the larger kind. The location of the fuse is in front of your (orat least mine) air filter. Actually I've dealt with this problem for awhile but since Im in school to become a mechanic I fixed the problem! All it is, is the rheostat, the dial to the left under your steering wheel that rolls. It can either be replaced costing 62 bucks or you can take a short wire and jump the load from that positive wire on the rheostat to the ground wire on it. You wont be able to adjust how bright the lights are but you will have light to see. Keep it easy to begin with. Fuse first! If the fuse is all good then move on. Always check fuses...always.
Check the brake light switch first. It is usually near the brake pedal under the dash. A bad turn signal switch can also cause this if the brake lights are also turn signal lights. If the brake lights are independent of the turn signals then disregard the switch problem. A good wiring diagram will help to diagnose the problem also. Check with dealership mechanics as they have access to diagrams.
You may have a blown fuse.
Probably the dash fuse is blown, or the dimmer switch for the dash lights is bad!
The first check would be the fuse for the dash lights. If the dash lights are out too then it is likely to be the fuse.
Be sure the dash light dimmer switch is not turned off.
a fuse or fulty wiring the brake lights are useually out the same time as the dash lights if that helps any
Do the dash lights come on now that you have put in a new fuse...Does the motor rotate or try to turn over....If not, it sounds like you have a bad ignition switch....
First check the dash light dimmer control switch to be sure it is not turned off then check the fuse.
Check the park lamp fuse.
Check the fuse again; tailights and dash lights are fused together on most vehicles. You need to pull fuse and test with a circuit tester and test both sides where the fuse plugs in.
could be a fuse problem, and then again it could be in the switch its self. Make sure your getting contact in your light switch. I dont know if you have a pull switch on your dash or if you have it on a multi function switch on the steering column, but you will need to dig in there and see if your getting juice or not, if the fuse is good.
i have the same problem my dash light turns on when i turn on the interior lights but when i turn on only ........the dash light they wont turn on but they work when the interior lights are on ........so they do work .,...is there a separate fuse ?
It probably means you have a bad wire or bad ground on that circuit. The tail lights and dash lights on that car are on the same circuit. Try replacing the tail light bulbs and fuse anyway. I had an Accord that did the same thing. Ended up being bad bulbs.
