It all depends. From where reviews have gone, It's a crapshoot, but they do have quite good and cheap MTB line of trombones that are under $400.
Most big name instrument companies make trombones. Yamaha, Bach, Conn, Holton, etc all make very good student model horns. Edwards and Shire are more expensive, but in my opinion they have superior craftsmanship. They also make custom trombones.
Yes. There is an instrument called a "valve trombone", which basically looks like a trombone except that the slide doesn't move and there are three valves near the mouthpiece that look a lot like trumpet valves. In fact, trumpet players are often asked to play valve trombone in middle and high school jazz bands when no regular trombone players are around to fill the seat. This is possible because the fingerings on a valve trombone are exactly the same as those on a trumpet. Some trombone players, me included, find the valve trombone to have a somewhat flatter (tone, not pitch) sound than a traditional trombone. However, a good enough musician can easily achieve a beautiful sound on a valve trombone. Additionally, there is a horn called a marching trombone that also three valves. It is similar to a baritone, but the tubing length and bore sizes are closer to those of a trombone.
It is technically the only instrument that sounds mostly like a human voice other than the guitar and the only brass instrument with a slide giving the player a disadvantage of playing fast but is good practice and an easy instrument to master. it is really a mixture of trumpet and tuba it is the middle instrument the one keeping the band together!
No. It's cheaply made Chinese garbage. For your own sake, never buy from Palatino. If you have the money, look for a Shire or Edwards. Bach and Conn are good as well, so is Yamaha.
If it is comfortable and plays well for you its good.

for the price yes, but they are certainly better quality
I have found that Yamaha is a very good source for musical instruments. Kings are also good, Getzens are good, but I prefer Yamaha before anything else.

Not especially. It might get the job done for marching band, but definitely not for concert settings.
Different colored trombone are made of different metal combinations that resonate differently. You can find trombones of all different metals in most every price range. the price is more dependent on the brand and level of instrument, not the color. Any decent trombone regardless of brass color will cost anywhere from $1200 for a low end intermediate model to $3500 for a quality intermediate/low grade professional model, and then you get into the realm of custom made trombone that start at around $5000 and go up from there. these are retail prices and like any other product you can find good deals if you're willing to be patient and look around.

It's fine, if it's getting hung up on a wall at Chili's. It could also be a passable beater horn for marching band. For anything beyond that, then no.
Well, no one can say for sure but good trombones usually casts around $1,500. you may be able to get one cheaper but you have to look for it.
