Paul McCartney (in the summer of 1957) and George Harrison (early in 1958). The band was still known as the Quarry Men at the time.
John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison were all in "The Quarrymen" before the name of the band went through a series of changes in 1960 and eventually evolved into "The Beatles". It is said that Stu Sutcliffe (bass) was the one who suggested the name "The Beatles" and played a few rehearsals with "The Quarrymen" in early 1960 before the name was changed to "The Silver Beetles". Drummer Pete Best was asked to join The Beatles in August 1960 after "The Quarrymen" name ceased to exist.
one of the names of the Beatles, before they became the BeatlesJohn Lennon was the founder of the Quarrymen Band. He met up with a bunch of other boys and they formed a group. When John was about 15 yrs old, he met Paul McCartney in the audience of the gig they were showing. After the show, Paul went up to them and showed them how good he was. The gang was impressed and asked him if he would like to join the group. Paul replied yes, so due to that, the Quarrymen eventually changed their name to the Beatles when they met George Harrison.Hmmm...Hope this helped.Pokefan1357 ; The Quarrymen released a DVD and a new single in 2009. Well, in 1958, John Lennon invited Paul to join in the band "The Quarrymen" Soon, Ringo and George would join, and later renamed the band "The Beatles" True, but Paul more or less had to "audition" for John. He played "Twenty Flight Rock" and impressed John with both his musicianship and his ability to remember lyrics...not one of John's strong suits.
George Harrison met Paul McCartney around the age of 14 while attending school at the Liverpool Institute for Boys. George started a skiffle group with classmates and was asked by Paul to join The Quarrymen, the band Paul started with John Lennon.
Lennon actually founded the Beatles; he started a group called the Quarrymen whilst at school - Paul McCartney joined soon after formation and George around a year later. Later the band changed their name to Silver Beetles and finally Beatles.
John Lennon was the founder; he went to school with Paul McCartney, and George Harrison was the younger brother of McCartney's friend. Rongo Starr didn't join until 1962; the Beatles started in 1957.

Quarrymen
Most Beatle historians would say it's the Quarrymen performance at the Woolton Fete on 6th July 1957. Woolton is a district of Liverpool. The Quarrymen were Lennon's first group. Paul McCartney was introduced to Lennon after the performance and shortly after McCartney was invited to join the band.

John Lennon told Tom Snyder in 1975 that he used to watch girls screaming for Elvis Presley and other performers, and Lennon thought "That's a good job." (One of the reasons Lennon asked Paul McCartney to join his band is because McCartney resembled Elvis.)
