try a computer link device , it will read any problems with engine.youcan get them at most auto part stores
The engine is choking. My '89 did it. Check the throttle body. It might need cleaned out.
It acts as a reservoir to maintain a vacuum supply to the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) system while the vehicle is under acceleration. Main function of canister is to supply a constant source of vacuum for the power brake booster. The canister should store enough vacuum to allow the brake pedal to have power assist for 2 brake applications in case the vehicle engine stalls
You may have one or more wiring connections that are bad. When the engine is running well, try carefully moving the wiring harnesses under the hood back and forth, particularly those in the taped bundles that run between the engine and the body. Also check ground connections, especially those between the engine and body. It is a 2001 Chevy Malibu, I do not know how to tell if it is fuel injected or Carb. It is an automatic trans, 6 cyl. Hope that makes it easier to hep me what kind of car? what year? IS it fuel injected or carburerated? Automatic? Need more info to answer this ...
I had the same noise on my 1997 Volvo 850. My noise was from the rear engine mount( behind the passenger front tire behind the wheel well cover). The part should cost about $60. Good Luck. Derek Check for a cracked strut mount. Replacement is simple, but the parts can be costly.
check your tps( throttle position sensor) or crank sensor .. the pick up coil hardly ever goes out and the vehicle will still run without it. spiked2u@aol.com
There are many possibilities: ign. coil, Powertrain Control Module, wiring, crankshaft position sensor, battery, Auto Shut Down Relay. If there's a Check Engine light on, it may contain helpful info. When the problem occurs, you'll need an experienced technician to begin troubleshooting the source(s) of the loss of primary or secondary ignition.
when kick down the gas pedal to accelerate, the car downshift but then stalls and then engine stays rough until i turn off the engine and restart it then the engine runs normal again till the next kick down.
Dude, the engine is smoked. Sorry to have to tell you.
Replace the Idle Air Control Valve only about $50. This would cause funny idling and stalling out.
Why engine stalls on 1993 Chrysler Intrepid while driving and sometimes at stops?
If car stalls out when accelerating above 40 MPH, it can possibly be caused by fluid leaks. Another reason can be a defect at the transmission.
The engine stops.
try accelerating slowly. if it doesnt stall, you may have to keep accelerating slowly[until someone else can diagnose tyhe problem]
Check for vacuum leaks.
The light comes on when the car stalls because the engine is not running and the pump therefore is not pumping. The pressure will always be 0 when the engine stalls and the light is directly related to pressure. This is normal, you have no problem, other than the engine stalling.
Fuel flow! either blockage in fuel pipe or float level in carb set incorrectly.
Could be EGR valve sticking open or dirty at an idling condition or hesitates when accelerating.
The idle speed needs adjusted upward if an engine stalls when you take your foot off the accelerator while stopping or turning.
