you may only have enough voltage to run some accessories. i believe a starter needs at least 9 volts to turn an engine over. how much voltage does yours have?? check the voltage as you start it too with a meter. sometimes and rare it is it may have a fault inside the battery that opens when you put too much of a load on it.
check the fuses..
It's a wild, shot in the dark, but I'd guess the one marked 'RADIO'. However........the fuse for the courtesy lights can also kill a radio. At least it does on my '88 Celebrity Wagon.
check either end of the dash when you open the doors the fuse panel doors are the pull type
Most likely the battery is weak and dying. Enough voltage and current to make the solenoid barely engage (clicking in and out), but plenty of current and voltage for the radio and some of the lights.
Send it to an authorized repair facility, the radio must come apart and then you have to find the bulbs! There are not many facilities will perform the repair as the amount of labor involved usually exceeds the cost of a replacement radio.
There may be an issue with the relay switch going to the radio lights. There may also be an issue with the fuse.
If a 1987 Chevy Suburban has lights and horn, but no ignition, gauges, radio, or interior lights it could be a ground wire problem. It is possible that there is a short somewhere. Also check the dome light for a possible water leak in the headliner.
open the passenger door in that fuse box
dash lights radio info center lights do not work all the time. change the fuse but that did not solved the problem
It is usually wired in with the radio or the courtesy/dome lights.
A pinched or crossed wire for a 91 Chevy crew cab plow could cause the lights and radio to not work. They could also be separate problems. Start but checking the marker lights fuse, then recheck all of the snowplow wiring.
I just did this to my radio. You must remove the radio for the dash. Open the radio to reveal the circuit board and solder new bulbs on the board. I found the bulbs at Radio shack online.
check the fuses..
Your battery is dead and you should probably take it to the repair shop and have them put it in for you. Couldn't it be the starter motor? The lights and radio come on, so there must be some juice and the battery.
The Starter, Is Bad.
not much helpI don't know if it is the same, but the lights were out in my 97 Chevy truck radio, so I took the radio apart (not a easy feat) and all the seaperate lights for the buttons are soldiered to the circuit board so I am assumeing they are not replaceable, unless I can find a radio store that can put new ones in.This Might helpTry this website it is already on the page you need. http://www.corvetteradios.com/corvetteradios_013.htmit has the bults and a diagram of how to take the radio apart and do the soldering jobs, not the greatest but it is the only one i could find. also i am gonna try this with leds lights from radio shack and see it that works instead of paying 22 dollars for 10 lights. radio shack is like a dollar for 1 maybe two i don't remember
