May have other outlying problems with other electrical/computer regulated parts. Check you distributor and/or control module- should be in the distributor I believe. Check for breaks in wiring and connections. Worst case a defective coil though rare but possible. Test components by measuring the ohms/volts with a multimeter, need to get specifications though. Check repair manuals or other databases for info on that.
I have a 95 cherokee. had lots of trouble with the coil blowing out till I ran a direct body ground to the coil mount. try changing the coil and running a ground wire from the frame or metal body direct to the coil mount. RW
each spark plug has its own ignition coil mounted on the plug itself
Yes.
The coil is on the passenger side of the engine
get a new coil. a coil on an engine is designed to take a little power and make it into BIG power. also check wires and connections going to coil. your problem sounds like the coil though. good going in, nothing coming out. there's your problem.
Replace the ignition coil.
If it is a gasoline engine it had both.
could be.... coil ... coil wire or... pick up coil.. not working
A 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee has one ignition coil.
No. A 1997 does not use a coil rail.
it could be the coil pick up in your distributor
My 99 Jeep had the same issue, eventually it had No spark, I replaced the engine coil, it didn't work, had to replace ingnition sensor.
I know my Jeep GC has "coil on plug" ignition, so there aren't traditional spark plug wires, just low voltage.
