open hood,
unbolt the bad M/C
remove and discard.
benchbleed, fill the new m/c up with fluid and pump a few times making sure its full of fluid
install on the Cherokee in reverse as removing it.
its an easy job, maybe 1 hour max.
also bleed brakes after if needed. typically air bubbles will rise and should not need bleeding, if so just bleed passenger side and then drivers side.
i just use a coke bottle and a piece of aquarium tubing.

The clutch master cylinder is in your engine compartment , the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder is inside your manual transmission bell housing
It will bolt in, but the intake on the 1996 is different and the cylinder head on the 1996 does not have the temp sensor for the gauge in the same location.

4 cylinder holds 5 quarts 6 cylinder holds 6 quarts.
drop the pan...
