if the guage reads full every time you turn on the switch, it's probably a short in the ground. you'll have to trace and inspect the ground wire from the guage to the tank. this will probably include dropping the tank. i would run the tank almost out of fuel 1st (makes it a LOT lighter).
The diagnostic code 12 51 55 is actually not a code for the 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The 12 means that it has started searching for codes. The 51 is oxygen sensor stuck lean. The 55 means it is finished searching for codes. Getting this means nothing is wrong.
Try spraying them with WD-40 and let iot sit on there for a while. If that does not work try a 4 way lug wrench .
Hi im Mike from Mn, I also have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee with front brakes that are partially engaged so that they heat up. I got them to release after pulling the fuse and relay for the ABS IN THE FUSE BOX under the hood. The brakes work ok now and have not stuck back on but the ABS system is no longer working. I went to the Jeep dealer and they said they had never heard of this problem before. They said if I can make it happen again they may be able to figure it out. Any info you have about this problem would be greatly appreciated Mike
Have you checked the aerial is pluged in to the radio. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- If it's the stock stereo, these go bad eventually......as well as the speaker ports on the back of the stereo... Just replaced mine with an after-market stereo for $99 at Circuit City.... Works fine now...
b/c it wants to go play...haha....u probably have a transfer case problem that is best checked out by a mechanic b/c u can tear up alot of unbroken parts trying to diagnose the problem urself...
My 1999 Grand Cherokee just started this today. My first thought is that the fan relay is stuck in the "on" position.
It can be stuck in 4 wheel drive or the idle control system needs attention.

When you think there is a possibility you might get stuck if you don't
Most likely this is the result of a stuck thermostat.
a stuck rely. and some time spring in the button on steering wheel gets stuck too
The throttle plate in the throttle body may be stuck and needs to be freed up and/or lubricated
A short time is normal, if it won't stop, your relay is stuck, replace it.
Trouble code P1899 means: Park/ Neutral switch stuck in park or gear
I would have to assume that you need to replace your thermostat. If the temp. gauge isn't getting very hot (around 190 degrees) after the vehicle has been runing for an extended period of time the thermostat is probably stuck open.
If the fuel gauge is stuck, the needle never moves, then the gauge has a problem and needs to be replaced.
Go muddin'! If you get stuck, well...
