If the antenna is stuck up, push it down as far as you can. Then pull back the carpet panel inside the trunk. Take off the wiring plug. You will need a flat screwdriver to push the tabs in on the connector to unplug it. Unbolt and unscrew the unit off of the bracket. Once it is loose, you can pull it through the rubber grommet on the car. If the antenna is too long to be able to pull the unit through into the trunk, just cut the antenna off. Your replacing it anyway.

∙ 13y agoUnscrew the antenna and the base flat base nut. Unfasten the mud guard in the wheel well enough to pull it aside and reach up to the antennae. Remove the kick panel to find where the cable enters the Jeep.

∙ 8y agoYou can access the antenna and motor by pulling out the trunk carpet lining, then once you have a new one just unplug the old one and stick the new one in ;)

95 % of the time the nylon cord that moves the antenna up and down gets stripped. The power antenna motor is going to cost about $200.00. The antenna mast is about $40.00 which comes as part of the nylon cord. The motor that drives the antenna must bestill working. The procedure to fix takes about 15 minutes. Remove the nut that secures the antenna and slowly pull the antenna out od the socket. Take the new antenna with the nylon leadand feed it into the socket hole. You can then secure the antenna in place with the holding nut.

I don't believe there is a relay. When you turn on the power to your radio the antenna should go up and down when you turn off the power. If the antenna is not doing just that, then the antenna motor is bad.
