I'm not sure about the 6 of them, but I have noticed that there are very high pitched notes, played by strings (such as violins), music box type instruments, or anything with a tingy sound to it. The very low notes are used to compliment these. The song is usually in a minor key. There is a lot of syncopation and volume contrast.

I've noticed Horror/suspense music contains a lot of dischord. Syncopation is used to throw you off. And there's usually unexpected changes in tone or volume, as well.
