The Catawba and other Siouan speaking tribes from the Piedmont of North Carolina in addition to the Tuscarora (Iroquois) in eastern North Carolina. I think also the Seminole. Plus the White People. They kinda did not like Spanish from Spain.

Some of the challenges the Cherokee Indians faced was not having enough food and sickness. The most common sicknesses are the following 3:

1) Small Pox (Blisters and illness)

2) Exhaustion

3) Starvation

Also, they suffered at the hands of the US government, which took over 70% of the tribe to Oklahoma on the infamous "Trail of Tears". Many died along the way. The ones that stayed behind in their ancestral home in the North Carolina and Tennessee mountains are today called the "Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation."

Pre-Discovery: Prior to the arrival of European settlers the tribe had external as well as internal conflicts (clan conflicts). Most of these were settled with a game much like modern Lacrosse. In a few cases only 'war' would allow the matter to be settled, but you must understand that 'war' did not always mean killing the other person. It is, and was, much more honorable to prove you could kill them but chose not to.. Post-Discovery: After exposure to European settlers the tribe was embroiled in many conflicts, not only internally but with other tribes and settlers as well. The Cherokee were involved in the Civil war as well (I believe on both sides).
