the various controls and keys used on a UHF radio esp Squelch scans quiet duplex are simplex and simplistic.
most radio head units have tabs on the side where you need what is called radio keys to remove most times two butter knifes will do if you can see the tabs
There are no removal holes - therefore the outer casing of the dash needs to be removed so that you can access the 4 tork screws at the sides of the radio. If yiou feel under the radio the dash is separate from the dash panel below. But I think starting here will lead to a broken dash panel. I think the coin trays above have to come out and underneath them there will be two tork or spax screws to get things started. If am still searching for a way in - but I do know the dash cover has to come off because the radio is screwed in. Let me know if you get any further - I need to do the same Kev WRONG! There are four removal holes... Two at the Top, Two at the bottom. (Each corner) You have to go to a dealership or local audio store to get the radio removal tool. They are the size of a house key with a 'finger' ring on the end, and a very thin blade that has directional slots to 'unlock it' from the dash piece...' Be very careful when inserting the keys, you can wedge the clips that hold the radio in making it more difficult to remove...

you have to have a pair of special tools that are called radio removal keys
I got the exacto-knife removal keys for 2 dollars plus shipping off of ebay, and there were numerous other types of keys for removing euro-cars radios.
There are 2 slots the front of the radio, one on each side. To remove the radio insert the removal tools and pull the radio out. The removal tools look like flat metal keys with rings on the end for pulling the radio. You can get them from the dealer or possibly NAPA autoparts. This process is also described in the Haynes Repair Manual on pages 12-8 & 12-9.
Follow this page, copy and paste your new opening page on any browser, http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/box_rear_speakers/box_rear_speakers.htm and go to figure 25 from there it will show u how to remove the radio for most porsche.
The question is, why do you want to remove the front cover? Are you trying to find a way to remove the radio itself? If that's the case, there are a couple of possible answers. Depending on the type of radio, Mazdas have either narrow strips of plastic on each end of the faceplate that must be snapped out, revealing two holes on each side into which you insert what are called "radio removal keys," or they have small rubber plugs (four in all; two on each side) in the holes themselves. The rubber plugs can be popped out with a sharp instrument such as a pocket knife, ice pick, or small screwdriver. Presuming you want to remove the radio, insert the radio removal keys into the holes until you hear/feel a click. Then, push the keys outward (left one to the left; right one to the right). This action will depress the clips that hold the radio in, and will allow you to pull the radio out. Also, presuming you don't have Mazda radio removal keys, you can make a tool that will work out of a coat hanger. Cut two four-inch lengths of wire from a substantial coat hanger (the thin, wiry ones your shirts come back from the cleaners on aren't strong enough). Then, bend them into "U" shapes with the pointed ends the same distance apart as the holes in the radio (mine are 3.5 cm apart). I made the keys as described above, and they worked well.

If the radio has two holes on either side of the unit, you will need a radio removal key. These can be purchased at audio dealers and I'm sure at Ford dealers.. I've seen them on eBay for $1.00 and $4 shipping. Anyway, you stick the keys into the holes and and put a little outward pressure on them to unlock the tangs and the radio will just slip out. Easy as that!
with the symphony radio, you need special keys which you can find online. A double din radio needs 4 and single din needs 2. Put the keys in slowly until you hear a click then carefully pull the radio out
There are four small holes in radio face. I have removed radio by pushing in two small Allen keys in one side at a time and pull out that side by pushing sideways on Allen keys. Once that side is out slightly pull out the keys and install on other side and repeat pulling out radio. I found if someone else held radio it was fairly easy. Once radio is out just unplug the connections on back side.
