What was Ringo Starr's personality like?

I don't know him personally, but from what I've seen he seems to have been the most down-to-earth of The Beatles, pretty laid back and quiet with a good sense of humor and a lot less egotistical than John or Paul. He didn't seem as intelligent as the other three, but that could just be a combination of how he was portrayed in the media (often as the comic relief) or the fact that he had considerably less education than the others, due to a severe illness that kept him out of school. He could barely read or write when he first joined the band.

Richard Lee Starkey was born on July 7th, 1940. Richard was diagnosed with tuberculosis when he was very young. He was often hospitalized! Ringo never went to school because he was very sick so he didn't get very good grades. He went to school with John and Paul. (No George). I'm not an expert in Ringo Starrology soo..Google it?
