Pete Best was fired by the other Beatles, (actually their manager George Martin), and replaced with Ringo Starr in 1962. He was fired because he was only an adequate drummer and not good enough to play for The Beatles.
Ringo starr
The Beatles had a number of drummers before Ringo, including (for one night only) a local thug who "volunteered" to play for them! ISTR, their first drummer was called Thomas Moore, Pete Best was the last drummer before Ringo, Andy White was a session drummer who played on the second version of Love Me Do.
Asked once in a late-Sixties interview if he thought Ringo Starr was the best drummer in the world, Lennon flippantly answered "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles!" All the same, Lennon always counted on Starr's drumming to enhance the music they made together, and encouraged later drummers he worked with (including Andy Newmark) to "play it more like Ringo".
it is different depending on who you ask i have seen him at 13/100 and i have seen him at 5/100 but he set standards for drummers like Neil Pert like tuning the drums to a lower pitch, using a microphone on each drum, muffling the snare, putting the drummer on a raised floor, and using the match grip. If it wasn't for Ringo, drummers would not be as good as they currently are so he is one of the best drummers of all time even though he played simple beats, he kept a solid. You could count his mistakes on one hand, most of the recording mistakes were made by the other 3 beatles. He also played in crazy time signatures like 4/4, 11/8, 6/2, 2/2, 3/2, ect...
in 1962 Best was replaced by Ringo Starr.

Andy White, Jimmie Nicol, Pete Best and Ringo Starr.
There is no best drummer. There is only the best drummers...like John Bonham, Ringo Starr, Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, ect.
"Lots" is probably the best answer; they went through at least 5 drummers - some on one night only. George Harrison said the best drummer they ever had was someone called Thomas Moore. Their most "durable" drummers were Pete Best - who was drummer for 2 years - and, of course, Ringo Starr.
Pete Best and Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr) Against George Martin's better judgement, Pete Best was replaced with Ringo Starr as drummer on the 4th of Spetember, 1962. Jimmy Nicol was a stand in drummer when Ringo was hospitalised.

Pete Best was the original Beatles drummer who was replaced on the 4th of September, 1962, by Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey). Jimmy Nicol was a stand-in drummer when Ringo was sick. Most don't know about Jimmy Nicol's brief work with the band. Additionally: Andy White was a session drummer, producer George Martin brought in for Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You". He apparently wasn't thrilled with Ringo at first. They kicked Pete Best out because he wasn't being serious about the band; he never thought they would get to the top. Each of them played drums to some degree, but Ringo Starr normally played them on their records.
