"Wish You Were Here, Buddy" has not been released for download on any legitimate MP3 site, nor have I been able to find it available elsewhere for download or streaming. Many songs from artists primarily known for their work in the 1950s remain elusive even on CD and Pat Boone, with a prolific recorded legacy is no different. Although "Wish You Were Here, Buddy" managed to get to #49 on the Billboard pop charts, it has been largely forgotten by anyone assembling Pat Boone CDs because, well, let's face it, he's had much bigger hits than this. Your only options for obtaining this song are to buy it on old fashioned hard media. A simple search for "Wish You Were Here, Buddy" (complete with the quotation marks) on Google shopping will turn up used copies of the 45 RPM single and the LP of the same name. Threw out the record player years ago/too young to have ever owned one? The song you seek has been released on CD only once as far as I can tell. It was made available as part of a 2 CD Dutch release titled "The Singles +." That's going to be your best bet for obtaining this song on any format other than vinyl. I wouldn't hold my breath for it to become available for download. Rather than harness the power of the internet to cheaply distribute their entire back catalogs as niche products, record companies still view MP3 sales as a chance to market the same stuff that's always been available in stores. Perhaps the most surprising thing about this song is that despite it's sarcastic stance against Vietnam War protestors, according to my searches Boone has explained that he wasn't entirely in favor of that war, but he wanted to stand behind the troops. In fact, one year after he released "Wish You Were Here, Buddy" he came out with another self penned tune, this one being explicitly anti-war called "What If They Gave A War And No One Came." Not that you asked (cuz brother, you sure didn't), but that one is not available on anything but vinyl. As far as I can tell that one is only available on an LP called (I am not making this up), "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman." The LP got it's title from Boone's cover of a song by the same name (!) which was in either version a song with no vocals, just whistling. They sell it on the link below for 99 cents, but you must have a zune player to download it, but once you do that you can convert on to iTunes or any other media player. http://music.msn.com/music/album/pat-boone/wish-you-were-here-buddy/
