I sit in between the Basson and the Trumpets on the third row, though I am in a middle school band so it could be different for you.
The bassoon typically sits in the second row of the woodwind section, which is behind the string section. Where the bassoons sit is ultimately a decision made by the conductor.

The organization of an orchestra is hundreds of years old and fairly universal. Clarinets sit with similar instruments (like the oboe, bassoon and flute) in the center of the orchestra.

There is the double bass, also known as the string bass and upright bass (to distinguish it from a bass guitar). It is the lowest string instrument. The other instrument that commonly plays bass, or low, notes is the cello. It is somewhat higher in pitch than the bass but still is big enough that it has to sit on the floor, supported by an end pin.

The double bass is the lowest part in the string section of a symphony orchestra. It is usually the lowest part in chamber orchestras as well, if there is no double-bass the lowest part will be played by the cellos. (Do not confuse this with a basso-continuo, which is a harpsichord part in Baroque era (1600-1750) music.)
The bass violin was an ancestor of the modern cello. There is no such thing as a bass fiddle. Actually the bass fiddle is just one of many names for the string bass, it's also called a bull fiddle.
