Its in the dash with te other harnesses...(orange.....i think)
I have a '99 Taurus. There doesn't seem to be an antenna plug near the dash. The only one I have found is near the antenna itself in the left rear fender well. you will have to go buy a antenna adapter... its a long wire that will plug into the back of the anatenna and then run it through you back seat and then under your bottom trim to the center control center if you have any Q's email me at CobraJet_07@yahoo.com. i just put a new CD player in my 1998 Ford Taurus and i have a lot of good tips for people I'm not sure about the Taurus wagon, but I had to replace the antenna on a Mercury Sable wagon. The radio module is located in the left rear trunk space behind the wall trim. You will have to remove the module to replace the antenna wire. Hope this helps.

Sounds like your radio antenna isn't plugged in properly.
No, it does not have any direct way of accessing the internet (no browser, no phone antenna, no WiFi, etc.). You can, however, play flash video, which I believe they want you to download to a desktop and then sideload to the player.
This sounds like the same trouble I have with my 1998 Mountaineer. See my answer under related questions. My friendly Ford - Lincoln - Mercury Dealer wanted almost $400.00 now the CD player is dead too.
You need to buy a set of Ford radio removal tools (about $5) they are "U" shaped. Push the 4 ends into the 4 holes on the front of the radio about 1" until it releases and then use the tools like handles to pull it out. On 2002 and earlier I think you have to remove some trim first. After pullling it out unplug the antenna and the harness and you are done
pull up the center console top. You'll find your CD player, CD storage holder, coin holder, and by pulling up on your coin holder-gives you access to the kleenex box.

According to the 1999 Mercury Cougar Owner Guide the six disc CD changer ( if equipped ) is located in the luggage compartment
I have the same problem, except I have a cassette player and not a CD player. I believe the answer is the antenna has come loose from the radio but I do not know how to check it.
If the player enables radio it should use either an in built antenna of use the earphones as an antenna. Nothing more to buy or build.
we can offer the antenna for you.my e-mail is sale2@antetec.com you can contact me any time, thanks!
The 2001 Mercury Sable does come with a CD player. If the car does not have a CD player in it, an install kit can be purchased to install a CD player.
The antenna is probably not connected
The CD player was an option at the time of purchase - which means that many 1997 Mercury Sables do not have CD players.
The CD changer is in the center console of a 2000 Mercury Villager
