As of right now, the oldest famous metal guitarist (age-wise) who still plays the genre is Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest, being 64 years old as of December of 2011. Second oldest would be Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, being 63 years old.
But, if you were talking about who was one of the first metal guitarist and is still playing the genre to this day, that would be Tony Iommi, who has been in Black Sabbath since 1968 and released their first record (which is considered the first metal record) in 1969. Judas Priest didn't release their first record until 1974, and didn't release something that was considered "true" metal until 1976.

Anything acoustic!
I have been playing guitar ever since kindergarten (12 years) and I think guitar is overrated. There are kids at school that play strictly chords, and you hear people say ,"oh you're the best guitar player EVER!" But that all they know, guitar is about being able to play any genre you can. My band, we have a metal core, death core, post core sound, but that's not all I know how to play, I can play jazz, blues, acoustic, any metal etc. But there is only opinions to this question there won't be an answer.
This is exactly correct. Yes, Resonator Guitars are a type of acoustic guitar, and they do have metal cones as opposed to sound boards. They were made to be louder than typical acoustic guitars.

Yes, you can put metal strings on a classical guitar, but it is not recommended. Classical guitars are designed for nylon strings, which produce a different tone and put less tension on the guitar's neck. Using metal strings can damage the guitar and affect its sound quality.
