Pop Music just mean that the music is popular. However i can imagine what sort of music you are talking about and are referring to todays standard of what is pop music.
It would be hard to determine who made the first pop song but the groups of the 70's would be your best best to look at. A group such as The Jackson 5 may very well be the group that first made a pop song due to their major involvement in music and their help in steering it towards a more pop oriented business.
Another possibility could be The Beatles.

probably the biggest mistake of all time, because artists such as Hannah Montana and Jonas brothers came from pop culture and eventually utterly destroy good music as we know it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
