probably a broken wire, either at the switches, or in the steering column
replace the whole steering wheel cause once the buttons have melted??...they wont work anyway.
most likely the drivers master switch is bad but befor you replace it check you power and ground wires that connect the door to the body
probably extra controls for the stereo volume and station selection.
If you replaced it with an aftermarket unit,,,, Put it back!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, If its just A different factory unit, Then it likely has A code, Check with the dealer.,,,,,,,,,,, If you had A company do the changeover then they need to fix this problem unless they warned you that it may do this.

go to gm dealer an replace the horn buttons in steering wheel,they always break,just replaced mine for the second time in eight months,cost about $22.00
