Unfortunately the 4 cylinder engine is only rated for 150 hp and 165 ft-lbs of torque. The Liberty can weigh up to 3800+ pounds,a lot of vehicle for the power that's available. Add 4WD, AC and PS and the math doesn't add up in favor of a vehicle performs well in many situations. Jeep is not alone in placing under powered engines in the models they produce so the problem you're experiencing is not isolated to this brand alone.
Above your rearview mirror there should be a small black 'ball' (extending from the roof of the car). That is your module. If it's not there, I'm not sure if your Jeep has it. You can always refer to the owner's manual (you can snag one from eBay cheap if you don't already have it) or drop by your Jeep dealership to have them find out for you. Hope this helps!
Assuming the pump is similar to my 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport, you first need to remove the the pulley with a special tool which you can borrow at an auto parts store. But before doing this, loosen and slide off the the belt off the pump. After removing pulley. remove bolts and pump should slide off. Did this to my jeep recently.
You don't. No need to raise the engine. Just unbolt the oil pan and remove it.
Mine is the same and I was told it is the ac clutch
When my jeep cherokee alternator went bad, the check engine light came on and I didnt have a clue what was going on until my volt guage was reading in the red zone. When I replaced my alternator, the light went off. So in my opinion i wouldnt consider the check engine light as a alternator light.
My '96 Cherokee Sport does, so I bet a '98 does.

Because in 2000 Chrysler got some new executive guy, named Wolfgang Bernhard, who said that the Jeep Cherokee was "an aging somewhat 'bland' SUV" and so they ended the production of the Cherokee (XJ) replaced it with the Jeep Liberty (KJ).
must replace whole turn signal switch.
Most Jeeps do not have Uni-Bodies, so you can jack them up on the frame or you can use the axles depending on what your trying to get at.
just below 20 gallons, right around 19.5 or so. NO actually, I own this jeep wrangler tj and the tank is 15 gallons unless you have the extended travel tank which is 18 gallons. Thats a 1997 wrangler tj sport 4.0 model.
probably have a bad crank sensor, so the computer isn't being told when to fire the plugs
I would not touch this vehicle with the 2.5 130 H.P. 4 cylinder unless it has a manual transmission. Even then it is slow and underpowered. With the 4.0 six cylinder 190 H.P. engine it is a much nicer vehicle, with a solid engine. Also have someone look at the 4wd system is so equipped. My advice is to not buy a 4 cylinder in this vehicle, unless you can live with an underpowered vehicle that does not get great gas mileage.
Jeep Wrangler Sport hmmm YJ or TJ or JK? All the versions have Sport editions. It probably will fit a YJ, but the TJ I saw someone do it but some major windshield mods had to be done (grinding ect) so I would nto do it. The new JK forget it- totally different. Watch Craigslist or EBay for some nice deals is your best bet if yours is not a YJ.
It should be the same.. the standard jeep(left hand drive) the intake and exhaust are on the left side of the engine as well, so there is no need for a different manifold. so 99 % sure its the same manifold
i recently had a diagnostic test done on my 1998 jeep Cherokee sport; 4wd;4.0 L and was told that i have 3: 1 located before the catalytic converter & 2 located after the catalytic converter: i also would like some clarification on the matter because i looked underneath the vehicle and so far have found 2!
