How does a linear for a cb radio work?

Transmitting over four watts on a CB radio is actually illegal, thus, using a linear amp on a CB is illegal, as well. A linear amp attached to a radio (for argument's sake, we'll assume it's on a type of radio on which the application is legal) simply amplifies the power output. The radio transmits into the amp, the amp amplifies the signal, and transmits it to the antenna.

Does the TM4000 radio on 1992 Previa you have a 'Pre-Amp' if so where is it I have tried another working radio but it will not work on the Previa?

It may be under the drivers seat as on the lucida. If changing radio to standard you need to bypass the amp unit and wire radio to speakers direct. This means connecting all speaker wires to the ones that go from the old radio to amp unit. You will need to make a note of all connections as you do them all one by one. Tricky if your not experienced with wiring.

You have an 02 Expedition The radio quit working no power to radio you checked the fuses The audio fuse a 25 amp was blown you installed a new fuse and it immediately blew What could be the problem?

I had the same problem and found that the subwoofer amplifier was apparently defective. Unplugged tha amp and everything works OK now. Amp is behind cover in right rear of vehicle. Amp can be unplugged by removing cup holder. Jim Jim, You are the man! I did exactly what you wrote and the radio works. Thanks! Scott

When installing a new radio in a 1989 Dodge Caravan winfinity factory radio how do you integrate it with factory amp or bypass the amp?

if you are using an aftermarket wiring harness hook up the remote turn on wire on the new radio it should be blue with a white stripe to the harness also has a blue and white stripe and plug it in this wire turns on the factory amplifier if you are not using a harness you will have to locate the internal amplifier wire of the radio and connect that to the remote turn on on the aftermarket radio = answer = the inernal apm power wire is white on the black wire harness ANSWER if you dont want to use the factory amp. just run new speaker wires to each speaker.

Why don't my radio play in my 93 Mark VIII even though it's on.?

If it was working fine and then just stopped working then it's probably the amp that is in the trunk on a tray under the package shelf. If it is the amp, only the ones from 93 to 94 will work.

How do you go around the amp on 1995 ford probe how do you go around the amp for after market radio?

how do you go around amp for after market radio on 1995 ford probe

97 dodge ram aftermarket stereos internal amp gets very hot after 10 mins then sound fades out. Passenger side wires have been diconnected and stereo is working fine. Whats the problem?

if you dont have the speaker on the passenger side hooked up and you still are using the radio that is your problem. When the radio sends out the electical pulses to the speaker and there is no speaker there fot the current to go the current will then go back to the radio and fry the amp. You could blow the amp out of your radio if you dont hook up antother speaker to the wires. You can change the balance setting on your radio and move it totally to the driver side. you will lose the speaker in the back on the passenger side but you will have fixed the problem.
