Anyway , the problem was in the turn signal switch. This involved taking the steering wheel and column apart , taking the airbag out ( careully ) and it was more than I wanted to handle. The mechanic charged 227.00 including part and labor. .

Have you checked your fuses? Does the turn signal light up at all? If it does, you most likely need to replace a flasher.

Check the relay. Turn signals work off of a flasher. Replace the flasher they are usually cheap. If that does not fix it check the signal switch. That is the thing that you use to turn on the turn signals. That is usually the problem.
