Motown records was the primary record label that the female Supremes featuring Diana Ross recorded on. Before finalizing on Motown label two recordings were made on Tamla labels in 1961. "I Want A Guy" 54038, and Buttered Popcorn 54045

However, even before Motown's Supremes signed in 1961, there were records with several other (mostly male) groups named "The Supremes" between 1956 and 1960. Some of these labels included Old Town, Ace, Mark, and Bernice.

No previous recordings as The Supremes exist with Diane Ross, Florence Ballard, Betty Travis, Mary Wilson and/or Barbara Martin. Their previous group name was The Primettes used for their Lupine label recordings.

Was petula clark signed up with Motown Label?

No, Petula Clark was not signed to the Motown label. She is best known for her work in the 1960s, particularly with hits like "Downtown," but she was primarily associated with her own record label, Pye Records, in the UK and Warner Bros. Records in the US. Motown was known for its roster of artists like Stevie Wonder and The Supremes, but Clark's musical style and career trajectory were distinct from that label's focus.
