DON'T TOUCH IT UNTIL IT HAS BEEN EXAMINED BY AN EXPERT APPRAISER. The one sure way to kill the collector value of an old gun is to alter the original condition. If the damage is too great, you really should have it restored by an expert. Doug Turnbull comes to mind, and there's a place in Ohio that's very good but the name hass slipped my mind (or what passes for such these days). The place in Ohio that I know of is Carl Henderson, he has handles a number of restorations for me. His quality is so high that on a number of occasions top-ranking experts have missed the fact the weapon was not original. On the order of Turnbull but very humble and fair priced. You can contact him at carlgunsmith@aol.com or you can request photos of his work from my collection at smokinhydes1@Yahoo.com

How do you determine the age of a Remington Targetmaster model 510?

They were made from 1939 until 1962. There is a 3 digit code on the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver. The first two letters indicate the date of manufacture. You need to look at a barrel code list and match them up.

Can an 870 slug barrel be used with a Remington Sportsman pump?

I'm not sure, but I think the sportsman has a different barrel configuration. They might be compatible, i say about a 1 in 4 chance of it working. I've never looked at a sportsman pumps barrel, but I've noticed how different model 870 barrels arent always compatible. if the years of the barrel and sportsman are very far apart, you can lessen the chances of compatibility. i suggest you email the Remington website and try to get a professional opinion from them. Where can you find a barrel for an Ithaca S12 shotgun 12 gauge serial F359107 It could be a Sousa Model?

There is no S12 listed in the Standard Catalog. Only 11 people in the world can own a Sousa Grade Ithaca double. If you have one and have lost the barrels you are out of luck. If it is a single barrel trap gun, the odds are not much better.
