There is some dispute about the origin, and therefore the meaning, of the name Kylie.

It is believed to have originated in Australia, where a kylie is a boomerang or a curved stick in Noongar, an Australian Aboriginal dialect.

Others claim the origin is Gaelic and may mean either "graceful" or "narrow land".

In Hawaiian, the name means "Beautiful spirit" but, as the Hawaiian language does not have a "y", this name has probably been adapted/adopted with the increased numbers of foreigners travelling to Hawaii.
