How does the participation of citizens differ under monarchy direct democracy and representative democracy?

Direct Democracy is established on the basis of voters, there are no representatives that "make" your vote in legislature. Votes depend on the outcome of voters and their decisions, not the decisions of representatives elected by the people. Direct democracy usually only works in smaller populations of people. Like in Switzerland, for instance, they're probably the best example of a direct democracy. In the United States we have a representative democracy, we elect officials to make decisions that are supposed to be in our favor.

In a direct democracy, you just vote, and that is the way it is.

In a representative democracy, you have representatives who decide for you, or laws that give all of a state's votes to one candidate, even if the vote was almost 50-50. So, it is easier to game the system and elect someone that didn't get the popular vote, or convince people in states that vote later in the day that their votes don't matter anymore, since enough states have already elected someone else. Ideally, of course, the representatives do what their constituents want, but often things like drawing district boundaries, losing voter registrations, and under the table deals corrupt the system, because people tend to abuse power.

In a monarchy, citizens have limited participation as the ruler holds most of the power. In a direct democracy, citizens have the most active participation by directly making decisions on laws and policies. In a representative democracy, citizens elect representatives to make decisions on their behalf, giving them indirect participation in the governance process.
