The first and most obvious answer was the cold war. The world had settled into 2 armed camps, the west (democracies) vs. the east (communism). This polarization led to each of the super powers trying to line up allies and potential allies. The old maxim of an enemy of my enemy is my friend, led to many strange alliances in the west. This cold war led to conflicts in many regions of the 3rd world as the Soviets sponsored rebels in many areas to try and destabilize them. They also wanted to use these ongoing conflicts to drain the resources of the west. The Korean conflict as well as the Vietnam conflict were also direct results of this. The Vietnam conflict also saw massive upheaval here in the US and abroad. Of course the east was not without their own problems. First Hungary then Czechoslovakia tried to rebel against the Communists, but Nato did not want to get involved for fear of it escalating into a larger conflict that could easily have become WWIII.

Did jean piaget change the world?

Yes, Jean Piaget significantly impacted the field of developmental psychology with his theory of cognitive development. His research on how children think and learn has had a lasting influence on education and child psychology. While he did not fundamentally change the world, his work has had a significant impact on our understanding of child development.

According to Piaget theory what happens when children are in a state of disequilibrium?

When children are in a state of disequilibrium, they experience cognitive conflict or inconsistency between their existing understanding of the world and new information they encounter. This state can lead them to actively engage in problem-solving and exploration to try to resolve the conflict and adapt their existing mental schemas. Through this process, they can move towards a more advanced stage of cognitive development.
