How was Jesus' burial arranged?

Jn. 19:38 Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus (because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus' body. When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took the body away.

Joseph of Arimathea was Mary, Jesus' mother's uncle. He obtained the body from Pilate. John 20:38-40 describes how he and Nicodemus brought 100 lbs. of myrhh and aloes and anointed the body wrapping it in linen clothes. (Matthew 27:57 and 58 also note this.) The myrhh was a type of fragrant gum used in anointing oil and embalming (Ex.30:23 and Mk. 15:23) According to Dake's commentary the linen was bound around each leg and arm with a separate napkin around the head. The spices were put in the folds. After 72 hours these linens with the oils became hardened which was why men were instructed to loose Lazarus (Jn.11:44)when Jesus raised him after 4 days in his tomb, he was bound completely, there was no time issue with preparing him for burial. Jn.20:6-8 state that the Peter saw the linen clothes lying and the head napkin wrapped together in a place by itself. They were able to look down the neck of the wrappings because they still had the shape of Jesus' body. They were empty. He simply passed through them and left shell of grave wrappings as irrefutable proof that his body was gone. Too bad that scriptural version of Jesus' resurrection is never taught or preached by today's preachers, huh?
