Charles, King of the Franks stopped the Muslim invasion at the Battle of Tours in 732 or 733AD. The exact date of the battle is unknown and there is some argument as to the exact place , but is was the great battle that stopped the Muslim advance. Muslim raids into Europe ended about 740 when the Berbers revolted in the Iberian Penninsula and North Africa. Also in 1529 and again in 1566 the Othoman Turks laid seige to Vienna from their capital in Constantinople. 60,000 Christian soldiers attacked and defeated the Muslims.

The frankish forces (Christians) stopped the Muslims from invading, though it has to be said that the Muslims were within 100 miles of Paris, so technically they were in France but later removed after joining the Frankish kings of Spain (Queen Isabella and the alike) with support of the Spanish Inquisition ensuring that any Islamic roots or Muslim peoples were removed not just from geographical location, but also from books and history.
