Best Answer

Joseph

Additional Point:

"Left out" is not the correct phrase to use. Joseph's share of inheritance/blessing was placed upon his two sons. One should note that in the end time Book of Revelation, Chapter 7 includes Joseph and excludes Ephraim (and Dan).

When Ephraim and Manasseh were counted as individual tribes, the tribe of Levi was not included among the twelve tribes of Israel. Levi was set apart for priestly duties and was not given a territorial inheritance in the Promised Land like the other tribes.

Why was Joseph not included in the twelve tribes of Israel?

Joseph was included in the twelve tribes of Israel by having his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, each be considered a separate tribe. This was done to maintain the balance of twelve tribes after Joseph himself was excluded.

Why were Ephraim and Manessah given tribe status?

Ephraim and Manasseh were given tribe status because they were the sons of Joseph, who was one of Jacob's twelve sons. To maintain the twelve tribes of Israel after Joseph's descendants had grown, Ephraim and Manasseh were essentially recognized as separate tribes with their own territories.

How did Ephraim become a Gentile?

It is only the house of Judah (Jews) who refer to all other tribes as Gentiles. Most white races come through Manasseh or Ephraim, while other races of people come through the other nine tribes. The dark skinned races come through the lineage of Ham's wife Egyptus who was of the lineage of Cain who, if you remember was cursed (with a dark skin). Genesis 4:15 gives us some clue as to what the punishment was God placed upon Cain.

Joshua instructed the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh to clear the forests in the hill country to give them more land. He also encouraged them to work diligently and trust in God's provision rather than relying solely on their own efforts.

Where did the tribe of ephraim come from?

The tribe of Ephraim was one of the twelve tribes of Israel and descended from Ephraim, one of the sons of Joseph and the grandson of Jacob. They settled in the central region of Canaan after the Israelites entered the Promised Land.

Of the 12 tribes two of them were not his who were the other 2?

The answer below is correct. When Israel (Jacob) came to Egypt, he "adopted" into his clan two of his grandsons, the two eldest sons of Joseph named Ephraim and Manasseh. In doing so, Israel (Jacob) increase the 12 tribes of Israel to 13. This is because rather than simply adding in two more portions, Joseph was given a double portion. Joseph's descendants received two portions of the inheritance (in Ephraim and Manasseh) while the other eleven tribes received only one portion. Ephraim and Manasseh

What happened to the tribe of Ephraim?

According to the Hebrew Bible, the Tribe of Ephraim was one of the Tribes of Israel. The Tribe of Manasseh together with Ephraim also formed the House of Joseph. As part of the Kingdom of Israel, the territory of Ephraim was conquered by the Assyrians, and the tribe exiled; the manner of their exile led to their further history being lost.

Who were joseph's two sons?

Joseph's two sons were Ephraim and Manesseh. When the twelve tribes of Israel entered Canaan and divided up the land, Ephraim and Manesseh each received a share of the land, instead of Joseph their father. In this way, Joseph, through his sons, received a "double portion" of the Promised Land.

How many tribes did Jeroboam have?

Jeroboam was the first king of the rebellious northern tribes, not the kingdom. Israel, as opposed to Judah, was the kingdom, and there were nine tribes that comprised the Kingdom of Israel. (Zebulun, Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, Dan, Manasseh, Ephraim, Reuben and Gad.)

Is Ephraim a half tribe along with Manasseh making them the 13th tribe?

Joseph made both of his kids tribes of their own, hence Ephraim is the 13th tribe, but a whole tribe not a half.

Why isn't Joseph a tribe of Israel?

Joseph is not in the 12 tribes of Israel. Jacob, who is known as Israel has 12 sons...Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun,Joseph and Benjamin, Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. So logically, 12 tribes of Israel would bore these names...But no...The tribe of Levi was given/consecrated to the LORD (Num 3:11-13) and were not to be counted. The consecration of this tribe did not originate in the legislative wisdom of Moses, but in the special appointment of God, who chose them as substitutes for the first-born.Excluding Levi and including Joseph there are only 11 tribes, but because Joseph is represented by each of his two sons, (Ephraim and Manasseh), who were given the status of independent tribes, it means that there are 12 tribes. This is their formation around the Tabernacle and in order of their marches; The Eastern Tribes : Judah, Issachar and ZebulunThe Southern Tribes : Reuben, Simeon and GadThe Western Tribes : Ephraim, Manasseh and BenjaminThe Northern Tribes : Dan, Asher and Naphtali

Were there ten or twelve tribes of Israel?

Twelve: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin.Additional Comment:If one considers the 'adoption' of Joseph's two sons - Ephraim and Manasseh - by Abraham and included them in the blessings (they receiving the birthright promises, specifically Ephraim first), then you can count 13 tribes. See below:Genesis 48:5New King James Version (NKJV)5 And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, aremine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
